Every year, the Lions Racing Team from the Technical University of Braunschweig develops a racing car for the international Formula Student competitions. toolcraft has sponsored the team by using additive manufacturing to produce brackets for connecting the chassis to the carbon monocoque. The topology of the component fitted to the front axle was optimised to withstand a greater load despite having a lower weight. Additional stability was provided through the use of Scalmalloy®. The finished component was anodised to protect its surface. The improved geometry also meant that the bracket was much easier to fit than the conventional version. The racing car for the new season will be unveiled to the public shortly.
